In this episode of the Curious Realm host Christopher Jordan welcomes niece of DB Cooper, Marla Wynn Cooper, author of DB’s Niece (In the Raw, Unedited!): a memoir, to explore the life and disappearance of her now infamous uncle. On November, 24th 1971 a man known only as “Dan Cooper” purchased a ticket aboard a Northwest Orient Airlines Boeing 727 flight from Portland International airport to Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac). The man then proceeded to extort $200 thousand dollars, the modern value of close to $1.3 million dollars and made his way to the rear of the aircraft. It was at this point that he opened the aft stairwell and jumped, parachuting his way into history and infamy. The D.B. Cooper case remains the only unsolved case of airline piracy to this day! In the second part of the show, we are joined by author and researcher Reverend Michael JS Carter to discuss lost technologies of the Bible. From the Ark of the Covenant to the chest pieces worn by the high priests of Israel, and even the possibility of a manna producing machine, technology abounds in the stories of the Bible. But where did these stories originate? Are these merely religious tales meant to teach a lesson or is the Bible a literal user’s manual instructing mankind in the technologies used by our ancestors? Join the Curious Realm as we delve into the topics of a life with Uncle DB Cooper as well as lost technologies of the Bible with Reverend Michael JS Carter.
